So you’ve booked your photo session, congrats! Now here you are, days or maybe even hours away from your session, trying to make sure you know all the details. Don’t worry, I‘ve got you! Here’s some last-minute tips for your session to make sure it goes as smoothly as possible and you have the best time possible!

1. Want to see past sessions similar to your session? Just ask!

One of the best things about having been a photographer for 7 years now is that I have done more sessions than I can count! And because of that, I’ve got plenty of past work that you can see if you’re nervous about your session. Because of the variety of work that I’ve done, I’ve most likely done a session similar to yours, so just ask if you’re curious! I’ve done shoots in studio, downtown, at bars and comedy clubs, parks, at clients’ homes, at schools, downtown, at the gym, in fields, and more!

2. Coming with ideas is okay!

The best thing about shooting with new clients is that sessions are a collaborative process! Never be afraid to share what you want for your session. If you’ve pulled inspiration ideas from the internet, I wanna see them. If you’ve got props you wanna use, bring them! I’m all down for gaining inspiration from you and ideas you’ve gathered and then turning it into our own thing based on your budget and time. Let’s brainstorm together!

3. Preparation is key!

The last thing you wanna do is forget some of the things you’ll need for your session at home! Here’s a short and easy checklist of a few things people often forget or wish they had brought to their sessions:

  1. An extra outfit: You never know what could spill on the way to the session.

  2. Makeup and blotting powder: Just in case you get oily or you just need to touch up!

  3. Lotion, Vaseline, ChapStick, etc: You don’t wanna be ashy or have chapped lips in your photos.

  4. Extra props: Anything you wanna pose with that isn’t being provided or that we haven’t discussed.

  5. Pack it all the night before: No need to rush and pack if you’re ready ahead of time

4. Can I bring extra people to my session?

Sessions can unintentionally come with a lot of pressure, especially if you’ve never done a photoshoot before, so you are allowed to bring extra people to your session, as long as we discuss who’s coming. We all have a special someone who can help calm our nerves or help guide us, I won’t make you leave yours at home!

5. Deposits, Cancellations and Late Fees

Any client that arrives more than 10 minutes late to a session is eligible for a late fee of $10 that increases by $10 every additional 10 minutes.

*Late Fee Example: You arrive 30 minutes late, you owe $30 extra

Also note that deposits paid for sessions are non-refundable, although you can schedule a different date for your session should a conflict come up. To avoid a rescheduling fee, sessions must be rescheduled before 48 hours of the session.

6. Adding extras to your session

Want to shoot in 7 outfits even though your session only includes 2 outfits? Your skin not looking the best today? No problem!

  1. Add extra outfits for $10 each

  2. Skin retouching starts at $40. Skin retouching does not include any body size modifications. Skin retouching merely acts as an extra layer of makeup to remove some bumps and blemishes and provides an overall smoother look to your skin. More extreme cases of skin retouching will result in an additional fee (bad acne, boudoir sessions, etc)

  3. Birthday Session Extras: We have an extended list of extras listed on our Birthday Sessions page that you can choose from to help create a more customized birthday set!

7. Paying For Your Session

The remainder of your balance for your session is due on shoot day. You can choose to pay before you arrive or right after your session is done. You can use the confirmation email from your deposit to pay the remaining balance through our website.

8. My Editing Process

Basic Editing is included in all my sessions. I do everything like fixing exposure, color grading and BASIC spot removal, blemish reduction and skin smoothing. For advanced skin smoothing and additional edits, they must be requested and a quote will be given.

9. Your Personal Gallery

One of the perks of doing photo sessions with Bobby Kerns Productions is that you get your own personalized gallery for your photos to be viewed, downloaded and purchased. The typical estimated turnaround time on a session is 5-7 days, depending on the session details. The email to your gallery will have all of the information included on how to select your photos and what to do if you would like to purchase additional photos.

10. Sharing Your Photos!

Feel free to share the photos you’ve purchased online with your friends and family! Bobby Kerns Productions is on Facebook and Instagram and we ask that you tag the page if you post to either social media site!

Special Note: Some details to sessions may vary depending on your specific session booked (specialty sessions, Christmas sessions, mini sessions, etc)
